Workshop Description

Networking is important for your career! Do you have the feeling that you could perfect your self-presentation and networking skills? Then this workshop might be just right for you! From the first impression you leave, the conversation that follows to a friendly follow-up on- and offline — all of this will be covered during this day.

This is an interactive workshop with a lot of exercises and real-life examples. There is a special emphasis on science communication, networking at conferences and how to use social media (LinkedIn) as a networking tool.

In this course you'll learn about:

  • Get tips and tricks for expanding and keeping your network
  • Improve your self-presentation skills
  • Design your personal pitch for job interviews, trade and career fairs, conferences and other meetings
  • Learn about body language and the importance of a professional first impression
  • Get input on professional social media (LinkedIn) usage for your career as a scientist

Important Note for Participants:

This workshop is designed specifically to help you prepare for the Ocean Sciences Meeting in Glasgow 2026.

Registered participants gain access to a learning platform. The material provided there will help you dive into the topic before the workshop.

This workshop can be booked in combination with the workshop Scientific Poster Presentation (9-10 February) or separately.
