Are you a busy research supervisor looking for strategies on how to make your supervision even more efficient and fruitful? And would you like to get inspiration from other experienced supervisors? Then you will find this advanced workshop very relevant. The setting is a ½ day afternoon workshop. The teaching form is highly interactive and facilitated by two internationally leading educational developers within the field of PhD supervision. This is a chance to take your supervision to the next level!
TARGET GROUP
Experienced supervisors who have supervised at least five PhD candidates as the main supervisor. Alternatively, you may have co-supervised many PhD candidates or gained other relevant experience.
PURPOSE
The purpose is to support scholarly based reflections and to exchange best practices among experienced supervisors at UNI Hamburg. The purpose is also to increase participants’ awareness of their role as culture bearers of good supervision.

YOUR PREPARATION
In preparation for the workshop, we invite you to complete a short task to ensure that the teaching content is adapted to you and your supervision context. The task will only take around 15 minutes. Deadline is the 29th of May 2026. The instructions are as follows:
Please describe a specific issue or challenge you are currently experiencing in connection with supervising one of your doctoral candidates. This is a chance to bring forward a real-life challenge and receive constructive collegial feedback in a safe and professional setting. Once we have received the cases, we will consider how they best fit into the programme. Due to time constraints of the program, we cannot guarantee to address all cases during the workshop. We will ensure all discussions are handled confidentially.
You are welcome to write in a draft style; only the two workshop facilitators (Gitte and Mirjam) will read your submission. Please send it as an attached file to us gitte-wichmann-hansen@uia.no and mirjam@ikk.aau.dk) label the file with your own name, and anonymise all names in the case.
