DESCRIPTION:\nThis SICSS Workshop on "Making it happen - Time and self man
 agement for your doctorate" was developed to ensure you have a good start 
 into your doctorate and receive all important skills and information neede
 d to successfully pursue your doctoral project: Designing\, researching an
 d writing a doctoral thesis calls for specific time- and self-management s
 kills that differ in several respects fromt those required in your M.Sc. s
 tudies or previous work life. Building on your experience\, needs\, and qu
 estions\, exchange within the group and input by the trainer\, you will ex
 plore what you need in this phase of professional life. \nThe Workshop co
 nstists of two parts: Part I (1.5 days) is in presence with the entire gro
 up\, whereas Part II is online and includes individual coaching with a joi
 nt online workshop at the end.\n \nPart I - Content:\nWe cover the long-t
 erm doctoral project as well as daily and weekly task management\, also ta
 lking about reflection and adaption of plans. We will discuss questions re
 garding the supervision relationship\, allowing you to reflect your relati
 onship and develop specific goals.\nPart II - Content:\nIn part II you may
  participate in a one-by-one coaching session\, providing the opportunity 
 to address individual challenges of the methods learnt. Together with the 
 trainer/coach Christiane Kasack\, you will identify steps that could enhan
 ce both\, your enjoyment and productivity\, in your doctoral project. \nW
 eekly emails help implement the strategies covered in the first part of th
 e workshop.\nThe second workshop (online) will enable you to reflect on yo
 ur self management over the past 6 months and dive deeper into topics.\nAb
 out a week before the workshop (part I)\, you will be asked to fill a pre-
 workshop survey. Based on your answers\, the workshop will be tailormade t
 o your specific needs. \n \nWhat you take home:\n\nDoctorate as a career
  phase - The workshop opens a space for you to reflect the doctorate as a 
 career phase. You will set yourself goals for this phase and reflect your 
 work habits.\nHow to plan a large project like a doctorate\, including tim
 e to apply the methods to your own doctoral project plan. \n\n\nTime-Mana
 gement (days\, weeks) - you will receive planning and time management tips
  that you can immediately put into practice\, both larg-scale and small-sc
 ale. During the workshop\, you will re-plan your entire doctoral project a
 nd get the chance to reflect your priorities and plan the folloing weeks.
  \n\n\nOthers & your doctorate - We will explore the advisor-advisee rela
 tionship and discuss ways to get the most out of it. You will learn peer c
 oaching methods and will have the opportunity to form peer groups that con
 tinue meeting after the workshop. \n\n \nCourse usability: Elective for 
 SICSS doctoral researchers across all disciplines\, in particular wtihn th
 e 1st year of the doctorate. \nSpots are limited to 12 participants.\nAft
