The SICSS course "Introduction to AI and Academic Writing: Navigating Opportunities and Challenges" delves into the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in academia, particularly within the context of academic writing. This one-day workshop offers a comprehensive introduction to AI's potential benefits, challenges, and ethical considerations. As AI reshapes academic research and publishing, participants will gain essential insights to harness AI effectively, overcome its limitations, and responsibly navigate the ethical landscape.

This course is open to SICSS doctoral members and SICSS/CLICCS Postdoc.

Credit Points: 1.0

Objectives: 

• Explore AI's advantages in academic writing and the different AI tools.

• Examine the challenges and limitations of AI in academia. 

• Address ethical concerns and potential dangers of AI in publishing.

• Discuss how AI can be utilized for brainstorming.

• Foster critical discussions on the future of AI in academia. 

• Develop a framework for responsible AI adoption in academic writing.
