You get the opportunity to participate in the highly renowned SICSS course "Advanced Scientific Writing" with Dalls Murphy.

Date: February 19th -23rd , 2024 (5-day block course)

Time: 9:00-16:00 h daily, depending on the number of participants. Only the first day (Feb 19th) starts at 8:30h!

Learning outcomes: Participants will learn practical matters of structure, technique and process of scientific writing.

Content: The workshop will give participants a hands-on training in scientific writing. Each candidate must submit a written work (advanced manuscript)

All participants will need to read all manuscripts beforehand and be prepared to constructively discuss the style and content of their classmates’ work. By this it is possible to see exactly what aspects of one’s work need elaboration and to address them specifically.
Starting point for the workshop is Dallas Murphy’s observation that writing problems are most often ‘thinking problems’. In the workshop participants will learn how to structure a piece of writing and to properly use the English language.

Formal requirements for participation: Submission of a written manuscript by February 5th, 2024, either complete or in advanced stage (please upload in the indico course/call for abstracts/submit new abstract).

Course usability: Elective for SICSS doctoral students; open for early PostDocs depending on capacities. Doctoral candidates who also participated in the Writing Course I (with Kimberly Crow) have preferred access.

Credit Points: 3 CP
