The SICSS course "Self-Pitching and Networking" adresses the challenges and options that come with networking, small talk, first impressions and body language in different social situations and academic contexts i.e. conferences.
In this one-day workshop, held by Philipp Gramlich, doctoral candidates will learn:
- tips and tricks on how to maintain and grow your network
- how to improve your self-presentation i.e. at academic conferences and academic/business meetings
- more about body language and the importance of your first impression
- practice your own pitch for diverse event formats such as conferences or talks
- how to use different social/academic media for your personal career development
This is an interactive in-person-course with many exercises and examples from working/academic life. There is a special focus on communication, networking and media use.
