This 2-days-workshop with Dr. Kimberly Crow provides a theoretical and practical introduction to the art of academic writing in English.
The first part focuses on the character of the English language and its special features are clearly worked out. On the basis of examples of formulations from practice, the focus is systematically directed to the characteristics of Anglo-Saxon academic texts, both with regard to the choice of words and the structural words as well as the structural organization. Participants will be provided with guidelines on how to write texts at a high academic level and at the same time make them lively and interesting.
In particular, the typical problems that non-English-speaking authors have when writing texts in English and strategies on how to easily solve these problems. In addition, the participants are also referred to electronically supported consolidation methods and further reading.
In the second part of the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to apply the new to their current research work.
