Description
In an ever-changing political and societal system, it has become a challenge for lecturers to effectively teach their courses on social studies (covering politics, society, and economy) with relevant and contemporary examples. This can lead to unprepared individuals in terms of media literacy, against problematic ideologies and propaganda.
A dashboard has been developed that aims to help against these circumstances. In the foreground, the system is fed a daily stream of around 5000 posts from multiple sources using 500 keywords relevant to the German right-wing movement. These texts are then processed through multiple classifiers of various natural language processing (NLP) tools, which help to assess the significance and reach of the posts.
To foster interaction between teachers and take in their input, a web application was developed where they can see all the analyzed posts, mark them as relevant, add comments or tags to them, and quickly visualize the top posts.
