This interactive, supervisor-focused workshop helps you support doctoral researchers by boosting motivation, fostering self-organization, and addressing common barriers such as procrastination, overwhelm, and writer’s block. You’ll gain practical tools for promoting realistic time planning and constructive approaches to perfectionism.

The MIN Faculty at University of Hamburg supports supervisors and doctoral researchers in navigating the increasingly complex demands of academic supervision. This modular programme is primarily designed for supervisors and co-supervisors within the MIN Faculty, but participants from other faculties and institutions are very welcome to join.

 

Across eight interactive workshops (3 hours each), participants explore key aspects of effective supervision – from communication and meetings to expectations, conflict management, and good scientific practice. All modules can be attended individually.

  • Tools for structuring meetings, providing constructive feedback, and handling challenges

Participants who attend at least five modules, including Module 8, receive the certificate “Certified Supervisor”, which can be included in academic CVs. A certificate of attendance is issued for each individual module.
