Description
We present our ongoing work on developing a new 3D nonhydrostatic model, using a Finite-element method on unstructured grids, to address a wide range of scales. We show that the commonly encountered restriction on grid aspect ratio (between the vertical and horizontal grid sizes) can be circumvented with proper pre-conditioners. Benchmark tests are shown for short wave propagation and shoaling over obstacles to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency.
